Alessia Panza

“The opera ought to be called ‘Donna Elvira’ because it is dominated by the soprano Alessia Panza, a singer of remarkable temperament and an immense voice with overtones that fill your ears, delivered with impeccable technique. Her rendition of ‘Mi tradì quell’alma ingrata’ is one of the finest I have ever heard, and I can assure you that I have heard many, indeed too many, performances of Don Giovanni.” (Alberto Mattioli for La Stampa on Don Giovanni at the Stresa Festival)
The young and talented soprano won the 2023 ASLICO Competition, securing the opportunity to perform the role of Luisa Miller at the Teatro Sociale in Como and at other Opera Lombardia theatres. She also won the 2024 Tosti International Competition, which has secured her a tour of Japan in the summer of 2025 with the Japan Tosti Foundation.
In 2020, she made her debut at the Verdi Festival in Parma, in the concert ‘Fuoco di Gioia’ with Donato Renzetti conducting, and has been regularly invited back by the Festival for subsequent seasons. In the summer of 2022, she was admitted to the Accademia del Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, where she took part in the production of Sergei Prokofiev’s *Le joueur* (Dame Pâle).
Other international competitions in which she has been among the prize-winners include, in 2022, the First Grand Prize at the 13th City of Brescia International Opera Competition in homage to Maria Callas and the First Prize at the Koliqi Competition in Milan; and in 2023, the ‘Best Italian Singer’ award at the CLIP competition in Portofino.
She has performed as a soprano soloist in numerous concerts in Italy (Milan, Parma, Rome, Verona, Bologna, Turin) and abroad (ABAO Bilbao, New York, Greenwich, Stamford, Warsaw, Alicante); in particular, she sang Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14 with the Orchestra Regionale Toscana and Verdi’s ‘Libera me, Domine’ with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Adam Fischer at the Konzerthaus in Vienna.
She has already sung the role of Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello in a concert version with the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic, Mimi in La bohème in Bologna and Milan, the Countess of Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the Stresa Festival, all directed by Gianmaria Aliverta.
Born in 1998 in Brescia, she was introduced to music as a child, then began studying singing with the contralto Alessandra Perbellini and in 2020 graduated with top marks and a special mention of merit from the ‘Arrigo Boito’ Conservatory in Parma under the guidance of the soprano Donatella Saccardi.
