On the occasion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Città metropolitana di Milano and the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano are promoting an event of great artistic and symbolic value: a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, conducted by Maestro Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.

Already chosen by the European Union as its official anthem, Schiller’s Ode to Joy, set to music by Beethoven in the final movement of Symphony No. 9, embodies the highest values of peace, brotherhood, and unity among peoples. A unity that also embraces all diversity, as the Choir sings in the Andante maestoso of the final movement:

The proceeds will be allocated to strengthening and expanding inclusion and accessibility projects for people with sensory disabilities (deaf and hard of hearing, blind and partially sighted) and intellectual disabilities, carried out by the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano Giuseppe Verdi with the collaboration and participation of local institutions and associations.
